Our Privacy Commitment

health.md was built from the ground up with one core principle: your health data is yours alone. This privacy policy explains exactly what data we collect (none), how we use it (we don't), and your rights regarding your information.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data, health data, or usage data. health.md is a completely local-first application that runs entirely on your iPhone. Specifically:

• No account creation or registration required
• No email addresses, names, or contact information collected
• No health data uploaded to any server or cloud service
• No usage analytics or telemetry tracked
• No crash reports sent externally
• No advertising identifiers or tracking pixels

How the App Works

health.md reads your Apple Health data locally on your device using HealthKit APIs provided by Apple. This data:

• Remains on your iPhone at all times
• Is processed entirely on-device
• Is exported only to your chosen iOS file system location (also stored locally on your device)
• Never leaves your device unless you manually sync your files using your chosen iOS file provider or sync service

Data Storage

All data processed by health.md is stored exclusively on your iPhone in locations you control:

• Source Data: Apple Health data remains in Apple's HealthKit database on your device
• Exported Data: Markdown files are written to your selected folder in your iOS file system
• App Preferences: Your app settings (sync schedule, folder selection, templates) are stored locally using iOS UserDefaults

We do not have access to any of this data. There are no health.md servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure.

Third-Party Services

health.md does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics platforms. The app interacts only with:

• Apple HealthKit: To read your health data locally on your device (with your explicit permission)
• iOS File System: To write markdown files to your chosen folder location

Network Activity

health.md makes zero network requests. The app does not:

• Connect to any external servers
• Send data over the internet
• Check for updates automatically (all updates come through the App Store)
• Require an internet connection to function

Permissions

health.md requests the following iOS permissions:

• Health Data (HealthKit): To read your Apple Health data and export it to markdown files. You can grant or revoke specific health data categories in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → health.md.
• File System Access: To write markdown files to your chosen iOS file system location. You select this location using iOS's file picker.

These permissions are only used for their stated purposes and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Children's Privacy

health.md does not collect any data from users of any age. The app complies with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and similar regulations by design, as we do not collect any personal information whatsoever.

Data Security

Since all data remains on your device, your data security depends on your iPhone's security measures:

• Apple HealthKit data is encrypted using your device's encryption
• Exported markdown files are protected by iOS file system permissions
• We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your iOS updated

Your Rights

Because we don't collect any data, there is no data for us to access, modify, or delete. You have complete control:

• Access: All your data is on your device and accessible through iOS Settings and your file system
• Deletion: Simply delete the app to remove all app settings, or delete exported files from your chosen folder
• Portability: Your exported markdown files are plain text and can be used anywhere

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change our privacy practices (which would require a fundamental change to the app's architecture), we will update this policy and notify users through an app update. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects when changes were made.

Open Source

The core data processing logic of health.md is open source, allowing anyone to verify our privacy claims by reviewing the code. You can find the source code and audit it yourself.

Jurisdiction

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where health.md is operated. However, since we collect no data, most privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) do not apply as there is no personal data to regulate.
